Circular economy
Using efficient processes, waste prevention, reuse, repair, remanufacture, and recycling, the circular economy aims to reduce the resources we consume. Its primary focus is on material cycles and relies on energy from renewable sources. We aim to move toward a more circular economy by using more recycled and renewable feedstocks, shaping new material cycles, and building new business models.
Sharing the responsibility: Alliance to End Plastic Waste
We all have a shared responsibility in battling plastic waste. Plastics are valuable materials that do not belong in the environment. The Alliance to End Plastic Waste (AEPW) has made it its mission to end plastic waste in the environment and enable a circular plastic economy. With our pooled material expertise and broad network, BASF is well-positioned to support the AEPW mission.
Tackling change
The transition from a linear to a more circular economy could significantly change business models and value drivers across many industries. However, how fast and to what degree we achieve “circularity” depends on many factors – the pace of technological development, regulatory incentives, new business models, the availability of transition investments, and the willingness of people to change their consumer behavior.
